Mackays’ Tayside Jamathon is a new business challenge for secondary schools in Tayside.
Teams of S2-4 students are given the opportunity to design their very own Mackays preserve product. The programme lasts for 26 days, and throughout the process, teams will work on a wide range of entrepreneurial skills. Students will select a board of staff, carry out market research, manage finances, design, brand and develop and market their product, as well as pitching to a panel of judges.
The programme compliments the Curriculum for Excellence’s four capacities, as well as Skills for Learning, Life and Work, with a focus on embedding practical business and entrepreneur skills into a real business challenge.
The Mackays’ Tayside Jamathon will also give insight into the world of work, and develop employability skills such as problem solving, communication, organisation and teamwork.
